Product Description
TCBS (Thiosulfate Citrate Bile Salts Sucrose) Agar is a highly selective microbiological culture medium formulated for the isolation and cultivation of Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and other clinically significant Vibrio species. The selective formulation combines bile salts, sodium citrate, an alkaline pH, and high sodium chloride concentration to inhibit most non-target bacteria while encouraging the growth of Vibrio organisms.
This medium is widely used in hospital microbiology laboratories, food microbiology laboratories, seafood testing, water quality monitoring, public health laboratories, and research facilities. Sucrose fermentation allows differentiation of Vibrio species through characteristic colony color development, making identification easier during microbiological analysis.
Note: TCBS Agar is a formulated microbiological culture medium rather than a single chemical compound. Therefore, it does not have a CAS Number, chemical formula, or molecular weight.
